Innerwyze
The History
Innerwyze began as a series of small, provocative mixed media paintings which emerged as I engaged an experimental creative process. Over a decade, hundreds of images found their way into a series I would intuitively come to name Innerwyze. The deeper one peers into the imagery the more one discovers. Aspects morph and change and often no two people see the same imagery. Many of these images found their way into larger paintings, textiles and art-quilts, and eventually into a limited-edition deck of oracle art-cards for introspective use. A few of these are shared in the gallery below.

About the imagery:
The unusual artwork in my Innerwyze series evolved as I intuitively worked with various materials and methods. I developed a blind mono-print process which actually informed each finished piece. Only after this foundational aspect of the work was created did I pull out the pencils, pens, paint and inks to accentuate and capture the details. Creatures formed and mystical beings arose as I peered deeply into the imagery before me. A story would unfold as I worked, and I was enthralled and surprised at every turn. These images were incorporated into a variety of media, from paintings to textiles and art-quilts, and a limited-edition of oracle art-cards. Some of these are depicted in the gallery slideshow below.

Nature's Spirit Portals, 52" x 52"
This art-quilt is a blend of my Innerwyze imagery printed on fabric and traditional applique. Looking deeply into the image, one has the feeling of being pulled in to another dimension.... or is the larger figure in the design pulling the smaller figure up and out into our world? This is the way the Innerwyze imagery works as it pulls us from the ordinary and into the imaginative.
