For an idea of the wildly diverse content of my trunk show imagine a decades long journey of introspection creatively translated. Inspiring makers of all types to tap into their inner world for inspiration and outward expression, my show focuses largely on my more than 30 year art-quilt career and my unique process .
My trunk show offers examples from more than thirty years as an artist and the inspiration that birthed each quilt. Creating from the inside out in diverse applications is at the core of my work ! This is a process anyone can apply to any media. My trunk show largely focuses on art-quilts with a few fiber arts and painting examples thrown in to emphasize the process rather than the choice of media.
My class is not about teaching one method or style of quilting. I teach participants how to tap deeply into their own inner well of unique expression and creatively bring to life a piece of work that reflects what they find within. We all have a story to tell, a question to explore or wound to heal. Creative expression is a fertile ground for bringing that richness to life through the work of our hands. Weather you enjoy traditional, modern, improv or figurative quilting, the art of bringing personal insights and storytelling into your work is easier than you may think. I offer tips and tricks for accessing what most wants to be expressed in your life at the moment. This includes an exercise that will demonstrate the process of 'tapping in'. Then I demonstrate how that can be translated in any style. Students are encouraged to stretch and choose a style or type of expression different from their go-to preference. However, those who prefer to work in a particular style are encouraged to explore ways to augment or deconstruct that style in order to express what they discovered during the introspective part of the class.
This class offers a new way to approach the creative expression we all enjoy as it encourages and supports one another as we explore new territory.

Intricately wrapped and knotted reeds and hemp adorn ordinary rocks or precious stones in this meditative practice of creative mindfulness.
Meditation Ink Painting utilizes the imagery of stones to enter into a state of creative meditation and mindfulness with the simple tools of ink, paper and brush.
Small stones are imprinted for well-being, and needle felted in a variety of merino wool fibers. Essential oil and cords can be added to wear as a fragrant pendant or talisman.
